Panchkula . The British School, Panchkula, celebrated its 13th Annual Function, Magical Moments 2018, amidst an atmosphere of exuberance, delight and elation. Honourable Sh.Dhanpat Singh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government Haryana, Transport Department was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Sh. Ashutosh Rajan, HCS, Estate Officer, HSVP, Panchkula, CAO, Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Ltd. was the Guest of Honour.
The annual function of The British school, Panchkula commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Hon’ble Chief Guest Sh.Dhanpat Singh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government Haryana, Transport Department and the Guest of honour, Sh. Ashutosh Rajan, HCS, Estate Officer, HSVP, Panchkula escorted by the Chairperson of the school, Ms. Urmila Sethi; Directors Mr. Sanjay Sethi and Mrs. Geetika Sethi, Principal, Ms.Anita Mehra, and Administrator, Ms.Sushma Gupta.
School Principal, Ms.Anita Mehra welcomed the august gathering. In her inspiring speech Ms. Mehra briefed the audience with the philosophy of the school, inculcation of life skills and value based education. Ms. Mehra said “At TBS we aim at the cohesive evolution of our students by implementing pedagogies that enhance better understanding and learning abilities of the students.”
Director of the School, Ms.Geetika Sethi, crisply summarized the School Annual Report, highlighting the students’ academic, cultural and sports achievements. Ms.Geetika Sethi congratulated the students, staff and the parents on the accomplishments of the children. She said, “In keeping with our motto “Towards beginning of success” we share and work together to develop in each student a love of learning while ensuring holistic growth.”
This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony where the awards for the Student of the Year for each class and Sports Star honours were given to the students who showed exemplary performances through the academic year. The Hon’ble Chief Guest Sh.Dhanpat Singh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government Haryana, Transport Department gave away the awards and praised the efforts of the school in building good value systems and encouraged all the students to create their own unique identity and pursue their dreams with a deep sense of passion.
The student of the year was won by Anika Singh, Amyra Walia, Jeevesh Sinduria, Aarnik Sharma, Naman Mehta, Girisha Bansal, Atharva Singh Jamwal, Ansh Mittal, Lavanya, Ishita Sharma, Kartikeya Jarawat, Saanvi Sharma, Tarushi Gaur, Arnab Kumar, Rabanni Kaur, Amrit Shlok, Dhananjay Malhotra, Junaita Puri, Samar Vir Garg, Krittika Garg, Vansh Mittal, Aniketa Chauhan and Agam Bhullar followed by Sports star of the year Yash Gambhir, Meher Uppal, Kashish Mahendra, Alisha Singal, David Wadhwa, Riya Verma, Archisha Sood, Jeevesh Uppal, Saanvi Sharma, Lakshya Anand and The Sports Superstar of the year bagged by Tarushi Gaur for her outstanding performance in Skating and Martial Arts.
Agam Bhullar and Thwishaa Mehta bagged the Certificate of Merit for scoring full marks in Social Studies and Hindi respectively in CBSE Class X 2017-18.
Two students of the school, Agam Bhullar and Advit Bhullar of Class X and IX 2017-18 respectively were awarded with Kiran Khuller Mathematics Excellence Award for their outstanding performance in Maths.
The cultural gala started with School Choir where the students paid a tribute to the Founder Chairman Late Sh.T.R.Sethi. It was a soulful and mesmerizing performance by the students of Class VIII and IX.
Students of Class VI presented Ganesh Vandana and sought the blessings of Almighty. It was an inspiring dance to gain blessings of the great divine.
Bahubali Act by the students of Class X and XI was a power packed performance. The audience went wild cheering the students.
Tiny toddlers of Pre Nursery and Nursery created a world of magic and wonder when they danced on numbers ‘It’s a small world and did a ‘Happy Dance’ to the viewer’s applause. The young ones of LKG and UKG gave a riveting performance as they turned and twirled on ‘Shake & Twist’ and ‘Witch Doctor’. The confidence in these children was a sight to behold.
Students of UKG gave a deep message with their dance to take care of our flora and fauna and to keep our country green. Class V also gave a message to respect what Mother Nature has provided us and not take anything for granted.
Students of Class I and II stole our hearts with Hoopla Dance. Candy Land by Class 1 children was a mouth-watering performance. ‘Mexican Dance’ and an act on ‘Don’ was a brilliant foot tapping show. Students of Class IV and Class III presented a Tap Dance and a Puppet Dance respectively which were equally breath-taking and super performances.
A musical act ‘Ali Baba and 40 thieves’ was an adventurous journey and a visual treat to the eyes. The famous fable came alive on the stage and left the audience spell bound.
Ghoomar Dance by the students of Class IX was a scintillating performance and Bhangra recharged everyone with its vivacity.
This cultural extravaganza ended in a medley of signature steps with the whole student and teaching community coming together on stage, creating nostalgic memories forever during the Grand Finale while sending a message to the world that the joy of music and dance create eternal bliss in all.
