CHANDIGARH: Punjab government on Monday issued red alert in the state as incessant rain fury continues. According to an official spokesperson, all districts have been asked to remain on constant vigil. “Army may be also requested to standby and hotspots would be identified with clear evacuation and relief plans ready. Equipment to drain out flood waters be kept handy as per directions given to the district administrations,” added the spokesperson. Districts in catchment areas of three rivers have been asked to arrange enough boats to rescue affected people.
Pubjab chief minister Amarinder Singh will review arrangements in a meeting with senior officers later on Monday and further instructions will follow thereafter. Meanwhile, disaster management control rooms are also being activated and all officials have been asked to remain on standby.
